“遗传密码”可以说是生物学中最常见的隐喻之一。本文首先对生物学中早期“密码”概念的引入进行了分析,展现了在遗传密码形成初期,“密码”隐喻在科学共同体中是如何实际使用并推广的。之后,从生物学史的角度,对遗传密码形成初期两个巧妙的理论假说——“菱形密码”与“无逗点密码”进行了具体的案例分析。通过案例分析,展现了那一时期的“密码”概念具有抽象性的特征,并对蛋白质合成问题的解决起到了描述性和解释性的作用。
"Genetic code" is arguably one of the most common metaphors in biology. This paper first analyzes the introduction of the early concept of the "code" in biology, demonstrating how the metaphor of "code" was actually used and promoted within the scientific community during the early stages of the genetic code's formation. Subsequently, from the perspective of the history of biology, it conducts a detailed case analysis of two ingenious theoretical hypotheses that emerged during the early formation of the genetic code—the "diamond code" and the "comma-free code". The case studies reveal that the "code" concept of that period is characterized by an abstract feature, and it also plays a descriptive and explanatory role in addressing the problem of protein synthesis.
