Abstract

Twin paradox is proposed as a thought experiment by Langevin who pretends to create temporal incompatibility between time dilation effect and principle of relativity， which he thought would be easily accepted by Einstein. The way of thinking of the paradox differs from the background of natural philosophy of Newton's period. It plays an important role on the shifting of philosophical concepts which is ignored due to cooling down of the scientific debate environment. It is why the review on philosophical origin of crucial experiments is still shown on the lists of today's studies. Indeed， the logical approach can also be employed to conduct eliminative reviews of thought experiments. The study proposes that the thought of twin paradox comes from the common dilemma， that is， human beings fail to make adjustment on rationalistic concepts according to the empirical discoveries. This study shows that the scenario of Lorentz is improved by Langevin and placed into the theoretical framework to intensifying the existing contradictions， the approach of which follows Poincare in sense of methodology. From several types of misunderstanding on time dilation， historiography of science could be the right way of tracing the crucial account of thought experiments， which contributes to one's understanding on the modern shifting of philosophical concepts. In the realm of fundamental natural sciences， it fosters scientific understanding and scientific discovery in the sense of original innovation.
