"Emerging science and technology" (Unified National continuous Publication No. CN 14-1408/N; International Standard Serial Publication number ISSN 2097-1486) is a journal overseen by the Science and Technology Department of Shanxi Province, and hosted by the Shanxi Science and Technology Achievement Transfer and Transformation Promotion and Data Monitoring Center, as well as Shanxi University. Launched in September 2022, it is a Chinese-language quarterly publication. Academician Wang Enge of the Chinese Academy of Sciences serves as the chief editor, with Professor Zhang Tiancai of Shanxi University acting as the executive editor.

The editorial mission of the journal is to focus on national development strategies; to track cutting-edge international trends; to look forward to the future of science and technology development; to inspire vitality in scientific and technological innovation; and to serve the needs of national construction. The journal insists on being oriented towards four principles: being problem-oriented, spreading scientific methods, exchanging academic ideas, nurturing innovative talents, promoting the scientific spirit, furthering scientific and technological progress, and advocating for a scientific and technological civilization.

The journal publishes forward-looking, landmark, and leading research dynamics and results in the field of natural sciences and interdisciplinary areas. It primarily features review papers (Review) and perspective papers (Perspective), while also including specific research articles (Article) and interviews with scientists(Interview).

"Emerging science and technology" is aimed at scientists, technical experts, and engineers, as well as researchers, managers, and decision-makers involved in science and technology policy, and experts and scholars who are concerned with the development of science and technology. The journal focuses on the international frontiers of science and technology, including but not limited to fields such as new-generation artificial intelligence, quantum technology, integrated circuits, brain science and brain-like science, genetics and biotechnology, clinical medicine and health, and the exploration of deep space, deep earth, deep sea, and polar regions.
